I read a short reflection for some readings in May. When I contemplated on it, our lifestyle is one of the factors that have separated us from God.
Where did our money go to? What kind of food are we eating? How do we spend our time, more on God, or more on entertainment? What do we think about sex, and what is our perception on sex?
When the Gentiles were asked to "abstain from meat sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals, and from illicit sexual union (Acts 15:29)," it is comparable to telling a modern person to stop buying certain foods, to quit eating meat or drinking caffeine, and to stop watching prime time TV with all it's pornographic innuendoes.
"Lifestyle is the false god of modern American church (and church all around the world). Our comforts, pleasure, and entertainment mean more to us than loving God. That's where our time and money goes, and God gets the leftovers, if there are any." - OBOB
Think about that.
